Regular readers of our food-focused sister blog, Bites, are way hip to the fact (as they reported back in December) that "urban winery and nightlife spot" City Winery will soon be opening in a 30,000-square-foot warehouse space at 609 Lafayette St. If you're anything like me, when you read the words "winery" and "nightlife" in such close proximity to one another, you think, "What is that, like a lounge act doing 'Mack the Knife' or some guy playing Burt Bacharach numbers on a baby grand?" Well, at least in this case, not so, my friends.

City Winery Nashville — which will feature a music venue, will focus on "concert dining" and is just around the corner from both Third Man Records and Music City Center — has just sent out their "initial calendar of events," and there are some big names in the bunch. For starters, the winery will play host to a handful of Americana Music Association Fest events — freshly announced AmericanaFest performers Sturgill Simpson and Cory Chisel's Soul Obscura are in the mix, among others.

But that's not all by a long shot. Also playing City Winery Nashville in the coming months will be: Bobby Bare Sr. and Bobby Bare Jr. (Sept. 26); Elvis Costello pianist Steve Nieve doing a bunch of Elvis tunes (Sept. 27); Dr. Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys (Oct. 13 and 14); Sandra Bernhard (Oct. 17); Macy Gray (Oct. 20); Los Lobos (Oct. 22); The Wood Brothers (Oct. 23 and 24); Daniel Lanois (Nov. 13); Sinéad O'Connor (Nov. 14 and 15); Leon Russell (Nov. 18 and 19); The Kinks' Dave Davies (Nov. 30); Arlo Guthrie (Feb. 17 and 18); and a whole lot more.

Visit City Winery's website for more details and ticketing info, or head after the jump to see all of the venue's scheduled performances.
