Wayne Coyne's Record Store Tour to Bring Him to Grimey's Dec. 19; See His Chocolate Skull

Flaming Lips frontman, auteur, vagina-centric doodler and general eccentrist Wayne Coyne has just announced a five-stop meet-and-greet record-store tour that will begin this Thursday, Dec. 19, with an appearance at Nashville's own indie vinyl shop, Grimey's.

Coyne's mini-tour comes in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Flaming Lips' earliest recordings, which he'll be hawking and signing reissue copies of: 1984's The Flaming Lips 1st EP (limited-edition 12-inch green vinyl signed by Coyne) and 1983's The Flaming Lips 2nd Cassette Demo (limited-edition 7-inch blue vinyl signed by Coyne). And then — in most Coyne-esque fashion — there will be a chocolate-skull-housed version of the EP, which you can see pictured over there on the right. Details on that from a press release:

Wayne will be selling an extremely Limited Edition version of the EP which will be housed with a hand-crafted, custom-made solid chocolate skull. Anatomically correct and life-sized, of course. Each skull will contain a special Golden Coin that is redeemable as admission to any headline show by THE FLAMING LIPS in the world. ...

This product contains quite a substantial amount of high-quality, gourmet chocolate accompanied by the main course: A generous earful of the very earliest music created by THE FLAMING LIPS in their original incarnation and pressed onto color vinyl. A feast for the senses, we're pretty sure you'll find this exclusive item delicious and satisfying on every level.

Coyne's Thursday appearance at Grimey's will take place at 4 p.m., and you can see the other stops on the in-store tour after the jump. By the way, The Animals' Eric Burdon will also be doing a Grimey's signing/meet-and-greet on Thursday, and that will go down at 6 p.m.*

Now, we know that Ke$ha and The Flaming Lips recently called off their collaborative album, so don't necessarily expect another weird studio sesh from Coyne and the sometime Nashvillian trash-pop songstress. But who knows, right?

* The Cream has received word that Eric Burdon has canceled his Grimey's appearance — here's the official word from Burdon's camp.
