Local punkin', garagin', rockin' and rollin' blog and record label Nashville's Dead recently announced the lineup
of this year's fourth annual Freakin' Weekend, which will take place March 7-9 at Rock Block institutions The End and Exit/In. The roster features the sorts of psychedelic slayers — local and non-local alike — that we've come to expect from the Dead set: On the national tip you've got Atlanta's bad-boy punks Black Lips, Californian psych rockers White Fence, and New Orleans swamp-tech innovator Quintron along with his collaborator (and wife) Miss Pussycat. Locals rounding out the three-day mini-fest include JEFF the Brotherhood, Natural Child, Diarrhea Planet, Ranch Ghost, PUJOL, D. Watusi and more.
As Nashville's Dead honcho and D. Watusi bassist Ben "Forever Young" Todd puts it, "There are still a bunch of other bands to announce and day shows and recovery parties and after parties and pop-up shops and blah blah blah." For the first time since the Freakin' Weekend's inception, three-day passes will be available (for $45), and tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m., right at this link. Tickets will be "available at a discounted rate until Valentine’s Day," says Todd, and that's around the same time Nashville's Dead intends to announce the rest of the lineup. Get your freak on.
