Pick up this week's dead-tree edition of the Scene and you'll find a piece — penned by freelancers Seth Graves and Andrew Clayman — on which of tomorrow night's shows you should attend: Jon Spencer Blues Explosion at Exit/In, or Yo La Tengo at Mercy Lounge. (By the way, if you entered our YLT caption contest, you should probably check your email more frequently. Neither our first-place captioner nor our runner-up responded when we offered to throw them on the list, so we'll probably give the prize to the most zealous entrant.)
The matter at hand: If you've decided to see JSBE but still wish you could catch YLT, or if you want to see YLT twice (three times?) in one day, or if you just like Prince's Hot Chicken (who doesn't?), then you're in luck. Tomorrow, Jan. 26, Grimey's will host Yo La Tengo for a free brunch event. As noted in the flier above (pulled from Grimey's Instagram), the beloved local vinylists have announced an all-ages in-store set for 1 p.m., with hot chicken for those who turn up early. And while you're there, maybe you can even poke around outside the forthcoming Grimey's Too annex and let us know what you find! (Spoiler alert: We'll have a profile on Grimey's Too in next week's Scene.) If you still haven't copped a copy of YLT's brand-new Fade, peep a preview below.
