Doin' Good, Feelin' Good: Infinity Cat Announces Second Annual Rarities Auction To Benefit Southern Girls Rock 'n' Roll Camp

So the East C.A.N. benefit at The High Watt with Quichenight, Wild Cub and The Nobility last night was a blast. Rain dampened attendance somewhat, but for those of us who made it, busting a move to some of Music City's best pop while supporting the C.A.N.'s mission of finding homes for homeless pets was a warm 'n' fuzzy double winner (with a wet nose).

In that same spirit, the fine folks over at Infinity Cat Records have announced their second annual rarities auction. Some ultra-limited-edition items are up for bid on eBay, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Southern Girls Rock 'n' Roll Camp. For those not familiar, SGRRC (profiled by the Scene's own Steve Haruch here) gives girls ages 10-18 an opportunity to be in a rock band with their peers for a week, culminating in a showcase concert where they get to rock out in front of a live audience — one of the best shows I see in any given year, and a worthy cause if ever there was one.

So what do you get for your dollars besides the warm glow of doing good? Auction items range from one-of-a-kind memorabilia — like signed backstage passes and hand-written set lists — to test pressings and reserve copies of out-of-print singles and LPs. Many of the items are JEFF the Brotherhood-related, but there are several tasty bits from JUICEBOXXX, PUJOL, Natural Child and Diarrhea Planet as well (bet that's the only time you'll find "Diarrhea" and "tasty" in the same sentence this week). One of the most unusual pieces up for grabs is a blob of unpressed vinyl that was going to be a copy of the Upstairs at United session with JEFF the Brotherhood. Maybe a little esoteric for some, but a true find for the most die-hard collector. Hop on over to the Infinity Cat store on eBay to peep the goods. Don't wait too long to toss your hat in the ring, because the auctions end December 3.
