Two Rooms

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Jan. 25 2014

Originally produced in 1988, this Lee Blessing stage play gained cred in the wake of 9/11. It deals, tensely and painfully, with the ordeal of an American hostage held by Arab terrorists in Beirut, and his wife at home in the U.S., who has stripped down her surroundings to symbolically and simultaneously experience his ordeal. The couple share imaginary conversations, and her house becomes the setting for dealings with an ambitious reporter and an emotionally detached State Department official who strives to make her aware of the bigger political picture. Hard lessons are learned, and Blessing’s opus culminates in startling fashion. ACT 1’s first production of 2014 is under the direction of Scott Hutcheson, and his cast includes Daryn Jackson, Bralyn Stokes, Phil Brady and Natalie Stone.
