When: Nov. 22-Dec. 21 2013
For the fourth consecutive year, Dance Theatre of Tennessee takes its production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker on the road. While Nashville Ballet continues to present its Nashville-themed version of the classic at TPAC downtown, DTT moves forward on its mission to perform the more traditional version of the piece in Davidson and three neighboring counties: Montgomery, Rutherford and DeKalb. Five cities — Smyrna, Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro and Smithville — will experience the irresistible story of young Clara and her fanciful dream of a world of sugary confections. This narrated rendition of the full-length ballet provides an opportunity for outlying communities to share in its timeless beauty, while also offering local youth the chance to participate in the production. And like last year, DTT’s innovative approach to community also includes our canine friends, as several animal aid groups lend adorable adoptables to the ballet’s opening scene. The presentation also features a surprise celebrity in the role of Mother Ginger in select performances, plus pre-show activities for the kiddies.
