Let’s be clear: There are really only a handful of reasons we get out of bed in the morning, which include the sickeningly delicious taste of that first cigarette, the allure of bacon and the slim chance that a badass psych-rock band has found their way to our inbox while we slumbered. Let’s just say that the morning we got the tip about Columbus, Ohio’s Main Street Gospel and their new album Love Will Have Her Revenge was one of the best mornings in recent memory. All fuzzed-out freak-beat with folk-rock overtones, MSG have a swagger and snarl that only could have come from the Rust Belt and its rich history of rebellious rock. And if you need another reason to haul your ass out of bed, Nashville’s most badass spaghetti-doom-metalers Across Tundras are opening up. Not only do they have a new record coming out on Neurot Recordings in May, but they also just opened up Ramble Hill Farms, an organic veggie operation out in Goodlettsville. Maybe they’ll bring breakfast.
