The Desperate Hours

When: Oct. 12-28 2012

If the production stills are any indication, this Street Theatre Company revival of Joseph Hayes’ ’50s-era thriller has the potential to hold an audience in frightful thrall. Moviegoers may recall William Wyler’s well-known 1955 film version that starred Humphrey Bogart and Fredric March. In this rendition, the timeframe is updated to the 1980s, as three escaped convicts invade a Midwestern home in an attempt to evade pursuing law enforcement. The white-picket-fence serenity of comfortable American family life transforms into a nightmare for the Hilliard family, who are subjected to the warped demands of the desperate criminals, portrayed menacingly by Sean Hills, Luke Hatmaker and John Mauldin. The family comprises David Chattam, Beth Henderson, Isaiah Frank and Quinn Cooke. Ryan Williams directs.
