What happens when an up-and-coming composer and an up-and-coming performance trio combine, you ask? Well, you get an up-and-coming hell of a performance! With both parties a mere nine years active (that’s infancy in classical years), it’s almost a crime to see such vitality and talent at no charge. That is not to say, however, the folks involved in this night are lacking in experience. Each member of the group has achieved notable fame by his or her own hand, and Adam Schoenberg has composed a fair share of works — 18 in all — that range from symphonic arrangements to solo pieces. The Blakemore Trio, consisting of cellist Felix Wang, violinist Carolyn Huebl and pianist Amy Dorfman, has commissioned Schoenberg to compose a piano trio for their humble three piece. The work, titled Luna Y Mar, will premiere in Nashville at the Blair School. Schoenberg’s works have been revered as “open, bold and optimistic,” which — between you and me — sounds like a perfect trio of power words to describe your Friday night.
