When: May 3-5 2013
This weekend, the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists will celebrate its 42nd Annual Tennessee Craft Fair at Centennial Park. It’s a local seasonal marker that lets Nashvillians know the days are getting longer, the sky is getting brighter and it’s time to start cooking meat on a fire in the great outdoors. When the weather cooperates, the TACA fair is a real springtime treat, but regardless of what the clouds might do, there is always plenty to see, hear and eat at this weekend-long event. This is the first time the fair has included craft artists from outside Tennessee, so expect the unexpected when browsing the clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood and paper works of more than 190 craft artists. In addition to the exhibitors, The Clay Lady, Platetone Printshop and the Tennessee Association of Woodturners will be offering live demonstrations, and local favorite Sawtooth Printhouse will be on site cranking out limited-edition letterpress posters that commemorate the event. In addition, a plethora of festival food options will be available, and while there is no mention in the official press release, I bet there will be some kind of musical entertainment in the offing. This is Nashville, y’all. Somebody’s gonna bring a guitar.
