When: April 28-June 17 2011
Part of a larger project-in-progress titled Dawnfair Rushrow, Fair is a sound art installation that makes use of field recordings artist Stephan Moore collected between 2004 and 2010. From the rural to the industrial, the intimate to the public, Fair’s samples flow from steely to silent to aurally abstract. Like most of the artists we love best, Moore pulls from wide-ranging inspirations: his multiple projects embrace electronic music, dance and theater. Employing speakers Moore crafted himself, Fair brings together these influences to create a surprisingly cinematic work. While many contemporary sound projects may create a mood, Moore’s work inspires narratives in the mind of the listener, and Fair is rather like a strong, strange score in search of a film.
