Whether they’re hosting a cloth diaper swap for eco-conscious parents or teaching locals how to make a gluten-free Thanksgiving meal, it’s obvious Green Wagon wants to do more than just sell you cool recycled stuff. They’ve made sharing their green knowledge as much a priority as scouring the state for conscientious locally made goods. Consider this weekend sale further proof, not to mention your antidote to big-box Black Friday madness. Green Wagon offers 20 percent off everything in the store, including locally made jewelry, a makeup line from Knoxville’s Purely Clear, stuff from Thistle Farms and Eco Diva, eco-friendly greeting cards and wrapping paper (free paper with any purchase), locally dyed organic tees from Ask Apparel and recycled-materials handbags. For kids, they sell organic cotton baby onesies as well as eco-friendly toys, including soy crayon rocks and a natural modeling compound a la Play Doh. Add to that a free photo booth onsite, music from The Flyaways and Orchestrada and a gift bag giveaway of $150 worth of goods, and your excuses to not shop local this holiday season just vanished. But if you couldn’t care less about any of that, two new mobile food trucks debut their treats on site: Both Bang Candy Company (who’ll sell hot chocolate and gourmet marshmallows) and the Grilled Cheeserie (who hock grilled cheeses and tomato soups) will be onsite.
