Local acts are taking over Vanderbilt’s campus for this year’s annual Rites of Spring Festival. Five of the nine acts hail from Music City: Chancellor Warhol, Caitlin Rose, The Beaker Street Blues Band, Gloriana and Wick-It. They demonstrate Nashville’s diverse music scene, spanning genres from country to rap to dubstep to blues, and Warhol and Rose have recently gained significant national attention to boot. Friday night’s lineup features The Beaker Street Blues Band, Gloriana, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Mutemath. Saturday night brings to the stage Friendly Savages, Warhol, Tyler Hilton, Rose, Reptar, Wick-It the Instigator, Sleigh Bells and Wiz Khalifa. Rites does more than bring diverse musical acts to the same stage. The festival highlights the diversity of the country’s best music scene. There’s no longer a need to truck in talent. It’s all right here, ripe for the picking.
