Porter Flea: Holiday 2012

When: Sat., Dec. 1, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. 2012

While it wouldn’t be accurate to call a semi-annual event an overnight success, Porter Flea has shot up quickly from a relatively humble East Nashville get-together to a full-blown citywide event. For the Holiday 2012 edition, the Flea is jumping over the river to the north end, for what amounts to a pop-up mall — populated by 60 booths full of handcrafted, homespun and Nashville-centric merch. Vendors range from purveyors of everything from furniture (Holler Design) to fashion (Tuft), handmade jewelry (Acorn and Archer) to Edison-inspired lamps (Southern Lights). Of course, that’s barely scratching the (vintage/reclaimed-wood/upcycled/artisanal) surface, so for a full list of vendors head to Meanwhile, a small fleet of food trucks will be on hand to sustain you through your browsing and purchasing spree, including Deg Thai, Yayo’s O.M.G. and Riffs, to name but a few, not to mention Beve coffee and Jeni’s ice creams. A splendid endeavor all around, and a great way to support local businesses that might not have storefronts of their own while tracking down unique gifts.
