NashvilleNext Community Workshop

When: Sat., July 27, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 2013

NashvilleNext, a community-led initiative managed by the Metro Planning Department, is engaged in a cooperative planning process to construct a countywide plan that will guide the development of Nashville over the next 25 years. Throughout the month of July, meetings have been held in various parts of the city in order to receive community input. Attendees are asked what three issues they would build their platform around if they were running for mayor of Nashville. The ideas and suggestions, which total more than 9,000 so far, are consolidated into workable guiding principles that address what the people believe are the city’s priority issues. So far, these are related to transportation and mobility, strengthening education and the economy, and maintaining strong neighborhoods. The last community meeting in this series will be held downtown, and is the only one taking place during the day and over a weekend. The plan is expected to be adopted by the summer of 2015, and the community is supposed to be involved in every step of the process, so there will be more opportunities to get involved and have a say in the form and fashion of Nashville’s development.
