Name the Venue Bash feat. Wanda Jackson, The Black Belles & DJ Johny Jackson

When: Sat., Nov. 19, 8 p.m. 2011

After a more-than-half-century-long career, legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Wanda Jackson was ready to retire her crown as the original, still-sitting Queen of Rock when Jack White offered to produce and perform on her 2011 come-back record The Party Ain’t Over. Having made appearances on Letterman and Conan, and having crisscrossed the country — appearing at festivals the likes of Bonnaroo and South by Southwest, in addition to touring in support of Adele — Jackson shows no signs of slowing down. With the 74-year-old singer’s old-time rock ’n’ roll— which includes such timeless classics as “Fujiyama Mama,” “Hard Headed Woman” and “Mean, Mean Man” — playing live soundtrack, Nashville’s newest house of rock, Marathon Music Works, will throws a free bash for participants in the freshly minted club’s recent Name Your Venue contest. Admission is a well-worth-it $15 for the rest of y’all. Third Man Records recording artists The Black Belles open.
