Restaurant Details

A Hillsboro Village establishment offering a place to grab a bite and a beer, this casual eatery offers a reasonably priced menu of chicken fingers, burgers, sandwiches and salads. It has the laid-back vibe, outgoing personality and warm soul of a place that has been there forever, and the food offers a darned good argument for arriving hungry. One-hundred-percent fresh and cooked to order, the chicken fingers come fried, buffaloed or grilled, in a basket with a big pile of hand-cut fries. The fried chicken fingers are especially good, crispy on the outside and moist on the interior. There are four beers on tap—PBR, Gerst, Shiner Bock and hometown fave Yazoo. It’s the intangibles, though, that make John and Tommy McDougals’ bar worth a visit—that laid-back vibe and outgoing personality, embodied in the colorful collection of hats, notes, photos, cans, plates and whatnot covering the walls, much of it donated by the Coop’s eclectic and growing flock of customers.
