Indeterminacies feat LaDonna Smith & Davey Williams

When: Thu., Oct. 11, 6 p.m. 2012

Improvisation used to be the bread and butter of every classical musician. During his life, Mozart was much better known in Europe for his phenomenal keyboard vamping skills than he was for his operas. Beethoven reportedly broke fortepiano strings during his wild flights of improvisational fancy. This was music that took risks. It mattered. Unfortunately, improvisation has become a lost art among most contemporary classical musicians. LaDonna Smith is one of the exceptions. This venturesome violinist, violist, pianist and educator has devoted her career to creating spontaneous music. Smith and her music partner, guitarist Davey Williams, will showcase their unusual skills at Zeitgeist Gallery’s latest Indeterminacies. The program is moderated by Brady Sharpe.
