Though Honey Locust's roots are all Nashville, the band has primarily toured outside the region — but this year is bringing more home-base appearances as they work on a debut EP. Though local shows may not provide cred for the fledgling act, its members' past experience can. Composed of members of the former local groups Blue Cadet Three and folk duo Ave Marling, Honey Locust plays sweeping Southern folk that channels Euro street-dance style. They only have a couple recordings to their name, and scratchy ones at that, which hardly compares to the liveliness of their in-the-flesh performances — involving a tangle of accordion, banjo, viola, keys and cello. The squeak, twang and hum of their strings will likely kick a post-New Year's Eve slump. The evening also includes sets from Americana chanteuse Audrey Auld and smooth pop rockers Caydence.
