Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration & Awards Ceremony

When: Thu., Oct. 14, 6-9 p.m. 2010

Fearmongering crackpots like Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Nevada senatorial candidate Sharron Angle — who cynically spew venomous anti-Hispanic bile to try win the votes of Tea Party nimrods — would hate this event, because they’d be forced to acknowledge what most of us already know: Hispanics who have planted new roots in Nashville and the rest of the country raise families, work jobs, go to school, attend church, own businesses, create art and start community organizations, just like the rest of us. If you have any doubts, attend The Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's 6th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Reception & Awards Ceremony, where members of Music City’s Hispanic-American community will be honored for outstanding achievements in a variety of fields, while folks of all origins celebrate the contributions Hispanic culture has brought to the American melting pot. Expect some Latin-themed cocktails, live music, special guests and, last but definitely not least, heavy hors d’oeuvres from Cantina Laredo, Rumba and Rosepepper Cantina.
