Harvest Celebration at the Nashville Farmers' Market

If you’ve ever experienced the nagging sensation that you should make some small effort to go green, and, yeah, while you’re at it, you should probably eat fresher fruits and veggies, and, like, you’d totally do it if it were just easier and someone would just show you how to shop for the right stuff, and maybe throw a couple recipe ideas your way—all for free—then here’s your chance to get nudged. The Nashville Farmers’ Market hosts a daylong event in four parts that’s bound to yield some significant behavioral crop changes. First, nationally doted-on Belmont art teacher Teresa Van-Hatten-Granath—a.k.a. the Green Bag Lady—gives away free fabric bags for grocery shopping to reduce plastic consumption. Then, chef Tiffani Rozier shows you how to shop like a chef—and a select number of early risers will be rewarded with samples and recipes—before moving on to whip up a seasonal dish using local produce for taste-testing. And last but not least, finish up with the great pumpkin carving with Acorn chef Andrew Hunter—that one’s just a reward for all your great citizenry.
