Since opening its lovely new gallery space, Vanderbilt’s Cohen Hall digs have been host to a number of shows featuring various — sometimes surprising — perspectives on the gallery’s diverse collection. Over 50 years ago, Peabody College started a tradition of collecting poster art, and that impulse continues to this day at Vandy. This show provides best-of selections from the archives and features local, national and international graphic artists and designers. While the exhibit pulls from more than 300 works, there is a fair amount of local flavor and music-related propaganda on display, including letterpress work from both Hatch Show Print and Bryce McCloud’s Isle of Printing. The show also features an assortment of posters by members of ADGFAD: the Graphic Designers, Art Directors and Illustrators Association of Spain.
