Yet another regional premiere from Tennessee Women’s Theater Project grappling with contemporary social issues. In this case, it’s the thorny and unpredictable problem of attention deficit disorder. This script by Lisa Loomer, best known as co-author of the 1999 film Girl, Interrupted, should provide the company with the stiff challenge of fully realizing a provocative, humorous approach to a somewhat unlikely dramatic subject. Here, 9-year-old Jesse can’t sit still, and parents, friends, teachers and health professionals disagree about the root cause. Director Maryanna Clarke has a promising cast to provide the insight, including Rebekah Durham, David Chattam, Alice Raver, Buddy Raper, Patti Nicole Wheeler and Keri Pisapia. Youngster Judah Todd portrays the pivotal role of Jesse.
