Pith readers and sulking Democrats will remember that back in May we passed along word that Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Roy Herron was dialing back his duties with the party. Herron, who is also an attorney, said that five years ago he had committed to represent a couple seeking medical care for their severely injured grandson, and that case was going to trial.
Well, they won. Nashville Post has more details, but the $15 million verdict in the case means two grandparents will have funds to care for their grandson. It also means a big pay day for their attorneys at the Kinnard, Clayton & Beveridge law firm, and, presumably, a somewhat smaller one for Heron, who acted as local counsel for the couple.
For Tennessee Democrats, it means the chair is once again occupied. TNDP spokesman Brandon Puttbrese tells Pith that Herron was at party headquarters first thing Monday morning.
