Esquire Notices Jim Tracy's Woman Problem

Charles Pierce writes:

If you're keeping score at home, this is how you get ahead in Tennessee politics. You pass a law mandating that a woman get an unwanted medical procedure, and sit through a intrauterine special-effects demonstration, because that is the way you beat your fellow "pro-lifer" who knocked up the mistress and made her get an abortion. No wonder Davy Crockett went to Texas.

Ouch, Jim Tracy, that doesn't sound like a glowing recommendation. Looks like you're getting a nationwide reputation for thinking women are stupid.

After looking at Tracy's website, though, I may have an explanation: He doesn't appear to know many women, leaving aside his wife on the front page. On his Photos page, the ratio of men to women is 17 to 3 (possibly 4, if one bit of hair in the background belongs to a woman). One of those women is a little girl. The adult women to adult men ratio is 2 (maybe 3) to 17.

I don't know if this is an insurmountable problem, but it's a problem. DesJarlais may be a horrible cad, but there can be NO DOUBT that he likes to spend time with women. Tracy needs to take some steps to reassure his female voters that he actually likes them — and doesn't just think they're idiots to avoid.
