Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells!
Where: Nashville Children's Theatre
When: Opening performance tonight at 6:30 p.m. Through Dec. 18.

Allison Gregory adapts this story from one of the books in Barbara Park’s popular Junie B. Jones series. Here the saucy first-grader — played once again by Brooke Bryant, who starred in 2007’s Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business — returns to Nashville Children’s Theatre, excited by forthcoming Christmastime festivities. Alas, Junie draws a bummer name for her Secret Santa gift. (Such is life for the spunky young heroine.)

NCT regulars Cori Anne Laemmel, Rona Carter, Henry Haggard, Bobby Wyckoff, Patrick Waller and Jeff Boyet join Bryant onstage. The first-time NCT director is actor Peter Vann, familiar to Music City audiences for his many versatile stage performances. Recommended for ages 4 and up. Meanwhile, NCT is ramping up for its 13th annual Grand Day, scheduled for Nov. 12, which will include an 11 a.m. performance of the play.
