Anyway, that's not the point of this post.
The point of this post is that the Tennessee State Library and Archives has some helpful advice—first on how to rescue flood-damaged items, and the second on how to best preserve family collections in general. Let us hope to never need the first again, but the second folks will find useful no matter what their circumstances.
Speaking of the Tennessee State Library and Archives, did I tell y'all about my somewhat quixotic attempt to annoy the pants off of them by naming the tree in my back yard The Tennessee State Library and Archives? My hope is that I can get my tree way high up in the search results for the TSLA, just to consternate them.
