May Day Festival This Weekend at FooBar and FooBar Too

It seems like just yesterday our collective asses were in danger of freezing off, but Memorial Day is indeed right around the corner. Besides setting a day aside to honor members of the armed services who've given their lives in battle, it's the unofficial beginning of summer, complete with pool parties, backyard barbecues and the best excuse you've had in weeks to start drinking at 10 a.m. on a Monday.

"But there are two whole other days! What am I supposed to do with them?" we can hear you protest. Fear not, friend, for this weekend, the folks who brought you the massive Foo Year's Eve dance party have your Saturday and Sunday covered with an impressive entertainment extravaganza. It may be a little late for the name "May Day Festival" to quite fit, but with a lineup like this, we're not going to split hairs. Top-shelf local DJs (old-school hip-hop from The Boom Bap's Case Bloom and DJ Rate, futuristic grooves by KDSML, smoothness from Y2K's Coach, NOLA bounce ambassador Spice-J, reps from Black Tooth Records, QDP and The Stone Fox, and more) will get booties motorvatin' in FooBar, while a healthy array of bands (jocular rockers Slick, perennial Cream faves Ri¢hie and Evan P. Donohue, indie-surfsters Repeat Repeat, super storyteller Rayland Baxter and experimental songster T. Rust, to name a few) will rock the stage at FooBar Too.

Doors open for the 21-and-up event at 8 p.m. each night. Cover is $7 per night, or you can snag a two-day pass for $10 right here. Keep in touch via the Facebook event page, and check the complete lineup after the jump.
