Former Middle Tennessean Andrew Seward to Host Sound Off! on Noisey

Former Against Me! bassist Andrew Seward hasn’t called Middle Tennessee his home in over a decade. Even then, he was only here long enough to get the hell out. That said, as a Blue Raider alumnus, former member of Murfreesboro punk band Kill Devil Hills (who are not the same Kill Devil Hills opening for Sleepy Sun on Feb. 26), a former WMTS honcho and booker of many legendary shows at the recently demolished and long-deceased Murfreesboro Mecca Red Rose Cafe, Seward may have left more of a mark on Middle Tennessee than K$ and MyCy combined.

Last year — after having played bass for Florida mega-punkers Against Me! for 11 years — Seward quit to spend more time with his new family, but he's kept plenty busy since. In addition to starting the band Human Parts with his wife Verite, Seward is hosting a new series for Noisey called Sound Off!, which “examines the people, places and influences that surround bands that are pushing the envelope in 2014.” The trailer (above) overlays soundbites of Seward explaining his relationship with hardcore while simultaneously name/face-dropping acts like OFF!, Torche, Youth Code and Retox.

A formerly local boy does good and we all get more hardcore in our diet. Everybody wins.
