In preparation for the release of their forthcoming, possibly posthumous self-titled sophomore LP (due out Aug. 6), at-press-time-not-on-speaking-terms star-crossed duo The Civil Wars premiered another track from the album on NPR this morning. Titled “Dust to Dust” — another ominous, fatalistic sub-textual nod to the band’s uncertain future — the heartstring-tugging ballad boasts the yearning love-on-rocks lament and hallmark harmonies of the warring duo’s 2011 Grammy winning breakthrough debut Barton Hollow, while at the same time showcasing the new album’s expanded sonic palette, which boasts a healthy dose of drums, bass and electric guitar to cradle and compliment the sad-eyed vocal tension at center stage. Check it out after the jump.
