C’mon, Nashville, admit it: You’ve missed Kings of Leon.
Well, the world’s favorite Music City family band tweeted late this morning that “Supersoaker” — the lead-off single to the quartet’s long-awaited, much-anticipated pentasyllabically titled sixth full-length Mechanical Bull — which drops Sept. 24 — will drop next Wednesday, July 17. For now, you can preview the song by peeping the fan-filmed (audio is decent) live version above.
Like the first cut to emerge from record, “Always the Same,” which we posted a similarly crowd-sourced clip of in back in May, this track shows the band getting back to writing up-tempo stompers and rediscovering the nervy, jaunty, frenetic rock of their early LPs — which, c’mon, admit it, 10 years later, have aged pretty well.
And since this record is the band’s first to follow an extended break — and one filled with real-life, inspiring shit like settling down and starting families — it totally makes sense they'd rejuvenate and rediscover their edge.
Frankly, I’m ready and eager to have this band be interesting again. So say y’all?
