Nine Inch Nails and Godspeed You! Black Emperor to Play Bridgestone Arena Oct. 22

The last time Nine Inch Nails played in Tennessee was at Bonnaroo 2009, where, mid-performance, NIN auteur Trent Reznor announced the band’s indefinite hiatus. The break proved to be short-lived, as Reznor is relaunching the band this year with a new album, a new lineup and a new tour, which comes to Bridgestone Arena Oct. 22. As you might (but probably don’t) recall, the last time NIN graced the local enormodome — on Halloween 2008 — I spotted Reznor ravaging a cheeseburger hours before the show at Five Guys Burgers and Fries on West End. So, in the event that that’s a pre-show ritual, now you know where you can meet and greet the singer.

Known for its breathtakingly elaborate, cutting-edge stage productions, the band — which now features former King Crimson/David Bowie guitarist and Middle Tennessee resident Adrian Belew on guitar* — will release its ninth full-length, Hesitation Marks, on Sept. 3. The album’s lead-off single, “Came Back Haunted,” dropped today on iTunes. Check it out after the jump. It’s dark, warped and synth-poppy as fuck — a word Reznor has always overused well.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 14 Friday, June 21 right here. (That might be a problem for local Nailheads who will be at Bonnaroo). Canadian experimental post-rock dynasty Godspeed You! Black Emperor will open, and I bet you’re as curious as I am to see how that will go over in an arena setting. March on, pigs!

* Update: Since this post was published, Adrian Belew left NIN.
