Sure, one man tweeting about one song by one band may not seem a blog-worthy occasion. But if you live in the universe I do, then you recognize both the brilliance and the head-scratch-inducing befuddlary skills of director David Lynch, creator of such gems as Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Wild at Heart and, perhaps the finest television program of all time, Twin Peaks.

Well, on Monday, Mr. Lynch tweeted about local alt-country outfit Escondido. "Dear Twitter Friends," tweeted Lynch. "I heard a song I really love called 'Black Roses' by the band Escondido. Check it out & let me know what you think." 'Dido, as you may recall, is the project of Tyler James and Jessica Maros, and they played the Nashville Day Party down in Austin just last week, delivering a set that I referred to as "Sweetheart of the Rodeo-informed desert country." "Black Roses" is from Escondido's brand-new debut The Ghost of Escondido, and they released a music video for the tune just last week. The track certainly has a noirish quality to it that I can see Lynch embracing. I wonder if he tweeted about it via his iPhone* ...
