Following in the footsteps of Karl Dean, representatives of Record Store Day have crowned Jack White the institution’s 2013 Ambassador.

“[T]here's no romance in a mouse click,” White, tireless champion of all things vinyl and the medium’s modern-day Willy Wonka, said in a written statement posted on RSD’s official site. “As Record Store Day Ambassador of 2013 I’m proud to help in any way I can to invigorate whoever will listen with the idea that there is beauty and romance in the act of visiting a record shop and getting turned on to something new that could change the way they look at the world, other people, art, and ultimately, themselves.”

A familiar image of White graces RSD’s Official Seal of Ambassador (above), and an almost-informative accompanying video (non-embeddable, but see it here) — in which White gives a tour of Nashville’s own United Record Pressing — showcases an excitable, characteristically well-dressed White’s rib-tickling comedic timing.

Perhaps perfectly timed by The Gods of College Living, Record Store Day 2013 falls on April 20.
