It's been a week full of fresh tracks: From ARTDOCS' for-a-good-cause Christmas compilation to new noise from Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, Ke$ha and Wick-It the Instigator, we've already caught wind of some good, free stuff this week. Not only that, but Mystery Twins are giving away their Love Is Strange EP for free this month, and Pavement PR is including last year's Glossary cut "All Is Well Tonight" in their Christmas EP. Not a whole bunch going on otherwise, but follow me below to hear a fresh track from local songster Jacob Jones and Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard as well as a couple of seasonal tunes from David Condos. Visit past weeks in fresh tracks here, and as always, drop a line to cream[at]nashvillescene[dot]com if you've got any new action for us.

Jacob Jones feat. Brittany Howard, "Play It Loud, Ray!"

Recently premiered over at American Songwriter is this brand-new collaboration between local songster Jacob Jones and frontwoman Brittany Howard of the freshly Grammy-nominated Alabama Shakes. Recorded at Andrija Tokic's Bomb Shelter, "Play It Loud, Ray!" — an obvious tribute to The Genius — is a feel-good, up-tempo, dance-along number that features some wonderfully loose, swinging playing, plus howling, boogie-woogie vocals from Howard and Jones. Hear it above or via Soundcloud. It's a hoot. The track is featured on Jones' forthcoming LP Good Timin' in Waynetown, out Jan. 29.

David Condos, Christmas Carols

You may know David Condos as a member of the local outfit Milktooth, or as a solo performer who landed that primo Kmart ad a little ways back. Well, he's also got the Christmas spirit, as he recorded a pair of re-imagined nocturnal yuletide classics — "O Holy Night" and "Silent Night," to be specific. "O Holy" is a pretty straight-ahead acoustic reworking, whereas his autoharp'd version of "Silent" gets a little more dreamy with it. Hear those above or purchase them for a buck apiece at Condos' Bandcamp page.
