* It's been a banner year for folksy crooner and consummate performer Justin Townes Earle. He released his verbosely monikered Nothing's Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now back in March, and he produced Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson's latest, Unfinished Business — Ms. Jackson, if you don't already know, will perform tonight at 3rd & Lindsley. Anyhow, Earle recently stopped off at Live @ CMT, where he performed “Memphis in the Rain,” “Look the Other Way” and “Am I That Lonely Tonight” from Nothing's Gonna Change, plus "Ain't Glad I'm Leaving" from 2008's The Good Life. As noted by the folks of CMT Edge, it's a relatively mellow, somber performance. Watch those above.

* Their name is Kansas Bible Company, and there's a veritable shit-ton of them — if, that is, you define "shit-ton" as meaning nearly a dozen band members. All 11 of the KBCsters recently performed an in-studio rendition of their tune "The Desert She Screams" for the American Songwriter folks. AS says the tune "straddles the seldom-visited border between indie rock, prog, ska and marching band styles," but I'm not sure I agree with the ska and marching-band references — brass and auxiliary instrumentation a marching band do not make. So is the title like, "The Desert She Screams" as in the desert is screaming and also female, or is there a female person yelling "The desert!"? Either way, go ahead and watch that one after the jump.
