Benefit for Victims of Hurricane Sandy Feat. Young Hines, Kin Ship and More Tomorrow Night at The 5 Spot

I think most folks with a conscience would agree that it's the duty of those among us with the most to look after those with the least. But it isn't my job to lecture you on morality — it's just my job to tell you about music stuff. So here's a music thing: Readymade Records artist and Nashville transplant Young Hines will play a benefit for the victims of Hurricane Sandy tomorrow night at The 5 Spot alongside rock 'n' roll outfits Kin Ship, The Lonely H and more. Details are somewhat limited at the Facebook event page *, but here's what we can cull from there:

Nashville and New York go together like Peanut Butter and Bacon. Many of the regulars that grace our stage came from areas affected by Sandy. Many of us Nashvillians have family that are homeless right now. Let's do what we know how to do and try to send some cash to the relief effort. We will have Solo acts and folky acts starting at 7:30. Rock 'n' Roll bands from 9:00pm till the next day

Of course, if you're not able to make it out tomorrow, you can always donate to the relief efforts via Red Cross. Also, here's an interesting bit of coincidence: Nashville's own Kin Ship — who, I've gathered from the info available at their Facebook page, hail from Ithaca, N.Y., and like breasts — recorded a tune by the name of "Sandy" for their forthcoming record, Where I Live. They've made it available for download at their Bandcamp page, and you can hear it below. Travel after the jump to watch Young Hines' video for the tune "Can't Explode." Good causes!

* Update: The 5 Spot posted tomorrow evening's full lineup. See that after the jump.
