Milktooth's David Condos Lands Song in Kmart Spot, Goes Viral; Frenchkiss Label Group Adds Jeffery Drag Records; Taylor Swift Sets Sales Records [Newsy Bits]

Congrats to David Condos! The Milktooth frontman scored big this week, landing his solo track “Like Wolves” in a Kmart Halloween ad — a rather artsy spot that features the shape-shifting styles of America’s Got Talent contestant Monternez “Monty” Rezell, who recently attempted to set a Guinness World Record for most costume changes in an eight-hour period.

Not only does the placement mean some sweet mailbox money for the singer, the spot has made “Like Wolves” go viral. Within 24 hours of airing on YouTube, a 90-second version of the Kmart clip racked up 250,000 views on YouTube. The video (which you can peep above) is now well on its way to 400,000 views.

Also, congrats to Bad Cop frontman Adam Moult, whose local label Jeffery Drag Records — which he founded in 2009 and has since seen releases from PUJOL, Useless Eaters, Natural Child and others — is a new addition to the Frenchkiss Label Group. Frenchkiss is a neighborly conglomerate of indie labels owned and founded by Les Savy Fav bassist Syd Butler.

And lastly, congratulations to unstoppable commercial juggernaut Taylor Swift, whose latest blockbuster LP Red sold 1.2 million copies in its first week — the biggest sales week for an album since 2002. While that doesn’t surprise me, I’m guessing T-Swizzle took the news like an overwhelmed Publisher’s Clearing House winner.
