Local duo Cry Baby may describe themselves as "no-gaze emo basement punk," but if I were to call them something, it'd probably be more along the lines of "gutter-punky, mid-fi garage grunge." Even if that's a touch absurd, I'd say "Nowhere Is a Home" from Cry Baby's forthcoming eponymous EP at least reinforces the "gutter-punky" bit — an anthem for the young and displaced, if you will. They've got a brand-new video for "Home," which was directed by Chris Roberson, and you can see that above. (Roberson, in a wonderful bit of coincidental synergy, is the October Artist of the Month over on our sister blog, Country Life.)

The Cry Baby EP —¬†which, according to drummer and Heavy Cream member Tiffany Minton, was recorded in a basement "with two mics and an 8-track Tascam" — will be out on cassette Tuesday, Oct. 9. Minton and her bandmate Wes Trew will celebrate the tape's release next Saturday, Oct. 13, at The Owl Farm along with special guests Snakeyez, Vacation Bible School and Tipper Whore (get your Facebook RSVP on). For those of you who just can't wait four days to get your hands on a copy of Cry Baby and cram it into your deck, you can stream all seven tracks below or at CB's Bandcamp page.
