* Above, Dave correctly notes that The Whigs are from Athens, Ga. But as noted by GQ a few months back, the three-piece rock 'n' roll combo now resides in Nashville. So hey, local rock! Check out The Whigs performing "Waiting" from their album Enjoy the Company last week on Letterman, and dig that hearty bass tone. Seriously, don't be like Mitch Romney —¬†watch the video.

* Want to make a music video? No one cares. Want to make an official music video for The Civil Wars' tune "20 Years"? Well, here's your chance to make people care! The Wars — recently certified Gold for selling 500,000 copies of their debut, Barton Hollow —¬†want you to direct their video for the aforementioned tune. Says the contest site, "The winner will receive $5,000 and have their video used as the music video for '20 Years.' Outstanding videos will also be nominated for the 2012 Genero Awards and in the running for $25,000 in prizes. The winner and finalists will be chosen by The Civil Wars and Genero." For inspiration, hear the tune and see the lyrics after the jump.

* And finally, local rootsy rock 'n' rollers Eric Zarycki and the Persuasion have a brand-new video for their tune "Something's Bound To Happen." The Persuasion features former and current members of local outfits All We Seabees, Hammertorch and Shoot the Mountain, and they'll be releasing a new album within the next few weeks. We'll keep you posted on that. Hear the drawling Southern blues-rock of "Something" after the jump.
