The first time I ever saw Faux Ferocious perform, they introduced themselves thusly: "Hey, we're Faux Ferocious, but all y'all can call us Misty." With all the charm of half a pack of Virginia Slims and the water-stained tile ceiling of a VFW, that intro alone was enough to win me over as a fan. But, as it turns out, their sloppy, lo-fi, pop-minded rock 'n' roll is pretty infectious, and precisely the sort of stuff I'd recommend for local fans of The Black Lips, Natural Child and the like. In fact, I'm a bit surprised that these fellas haven't been embraced by the local garage-rock community a bit more by now.
Anyhow, Faux Ferocious has a video for their tune "Striking Distance," and you can watch that above. It's a milk-drinking, nightmare-having, devil-dancing good time. If you like what you hear, I recommend you dip in over at FF's Bandcamp page. Once again, we owe a tip of the hat to We Own This Town for bringing this one to our attention.
