Back when Jack White said he wouldn't be starting any new bands, he never said anything about reviving old bands. It began with their announcement that they'd be playing the MI Fest. Then they signed up to play Orlando Calling. Now The Raconteurs have announced that they'll be playing their hometown, signing up for a show at — where else? — The Mother Church.
The last time The Racs played The Ryman (October of '08), The Spin was there, as were The Kills (featuring Jack White's Dead Weather bandmate Alison Mosshart). No word on an opener at The Ryman's site yet, but tickets will be available this Friday, Aug. 5, at noon for right around $40. Here's a question: Now that The Raconteurs are
teuring touring again, will White, Brendan Benson, Patrick Keeler and "Little" Jack Lawrence do a set at Third Man Records? For Vault members only? One of those "friends and family (and hopefully press)" appearances? An in-the-round old-time jam featuring Dean Fertita on wash-tub bass? The Ryman date is the only non-festival appearance listed on The Raconteurs' website. Let's stay tuned.
