If there’s one gripe Middle Tennessee hip-hop and Top 40 fans alike attending Bonnaroo this weekend easily have, it’s Friday night’s (or Saturday morning's, if you really wanna split hairs) time-slot face-off between Lil Wayne and Big Boi. While not literally in same weight class in physical terms, Weezy and Daddy Fat Sax are arguably equally matched heavyweights in the arena of Southern hip-hop. So, yeah, it’s mad fucked-up that Sgt. Slaughter, The Chief’s 12:45 a.m. set at The Other Tent will overlap with Mr. Make-It-Rain-on-Them-Hoes, The Carter’s 1:30 a.m. Which Stage takeover. Apparently that Manchester town ain’t big enough for the both of them. Well, I’ve got news for you locals who’ve got your money set on Young Weezy. Rest easy — it looks you’ll still have your shot and catching Big Boi, who, as it was announced this weekend, will play Limelight on July 14. Not only that, but Wick-It the Instigator will open.
Excited? Well, get your ass in gear and follow
this link this link to purchase tickets, as they've already gone on sale for the could-only-be-more-worth-it-if-they-were-free price of $25-$30. Well, that’s at least what the Facebook event page for the show says, although the show has yet to appear on the Limelight ticketing site. Only a matter of time, I’m guessing. Keep checking back, start refreshing and making the page so fresh and so clean, clean, whatever. In the meantime, check out a video of Sir Lucious Leftfoot’s set at last year’s Pitchfork Festival and get psyched.
