Goodbyes are the pits, but sometimes saying them is just a part of life, you know?
As you may recall, back in February I heavy-heartedly bore the bad news that Nashville’s favorite Finnish outside-musical funnyman, Ville Kiviniemi (aka The Mattoid), will soon call an end to his near 10-year Music City tenure, setting his sights on his native Helsinki.
Well, it appears the party time for The Mattoid’s migration is now upon us, but not before he treats local lovers to a string of farewell shows — set to commence next Wednesday at FooBar and wrap up the following Sunday with a solo performance at Betty’s. Show info is listed after the jump, a consolatory clip is posted above, and a cloud (no, not Dave Cloud) of smoky sadness envelops The Springwater.
Mattoid Farewell Fin Week shows:
*Wed., April 13 at FooBar with Cy Barkley & Lil Bennie's Knockin' Boots (feat. Party Cannon’s Ben Pearson)
*Thurs., April 14 at Betty's with Midnight Hooligans (feat. Dave Cloud and Sunflower) & Fuck Show
*Fri., April 15 at Springwater with Lone Official (!) & Denney and the Jets
*Sat., April 16 at Grimey’s (Record Store Day)
*Sun., April 17 at Betty’s (solo performance) with Pipeline, Trophy Wife, Midnight Hooligans & Deluxin'
Update: Thanks to local noisemaker Leslie Keffer for filling us in on Thursday night's show at Betty's.
