Spin Shows Nashville the Love, Local Rock Advocate Janet Timmons Is Excited, Caleb Followill Is Engaged, Max Weinberg Is Coming to The Belcourt [Newsy Bits]

* If the Cream’s coverage of PUJOL, Turbo Fruits and The Ettes isn’t enough to satisfy you, surf on over to Spin.com — you know, the other Spin — where the Tennessean’s Nicole Keiper has contributed an annotated list of Five Hot Nashville Bands You Need to Hear Now. Comprising her choices are the trio of artists aforementioned, in addition to Luna Halo spin-off alt-rockers The Honeymoon Killers and “tender” singer-songwriter Sarah Siskind. Spin’s interest in the music of Music City extends beyond listicles, as the famed ‘zine is among the sponsors of next week’s Next Big Nashville festivities.

* In related Next Big Nashville news: Out the Other host, indomitable champion of local rock and NBN co-curator/official Tweeter, Janet Timmons is tweeting her excitement something fierce in anticipation of the impending festival, which gets underway Wednesday. Check it out:

* Also, late-night-E-Streeter Max Weinberg is bringing his 15-piece Big Band to The Belcourt on Nov. 2nd. I’m debating whether or not I should bring my “Streets of Fire” and “Jungleland” signs. Purchase tickets here.

* And lastly, it was reported earlier this week that King of Leon Caleb Followill has found his queen. Followill popped the question to longtime girlfriend, model Lily Aldridge, who was featured in the Kings’ “Use Somebody” video. She said yes. While we at the Cream aren’t likely to get a wedding invitation any time soon, we offer our congratulations to the happy couple.
