* Interesting interview with Jack White in the Detroit Free Press, in which he discusses re-issuing White Stripes albums on 180-gram vinyl ("Vinyl is the only segment of music that’s growing in sales and interest, and I want to be part of that"), why the world doesn't want Mick Jagger solo albums ("In my brain, the Dead Weather is really me producing Alison Mosshart, you know?") and why he hasn't checked out your band ("I almost want to put on a disguise on to go check out bands. I don’t know how to say that in the right way that it doesn’t sound egotistical. But it’s hard to go check it out, because it’s very difficult"). [Detroit Free Press]

* New Yorker by way of Nashville Justin Townes Earle cut his hand something bad, forcing him to cancel his shows this weekend. "He injured his hand this past weekend and has 19 stitches and there’s no way he can play guitar." Nineteen stitches is a lot of stitches. [Justin Townes Earle official site]

* Surfy sun-poppers Best Coast (who are coming to Mercy Lounge Sept. 12), talk to Pitchfork about fan art, favorite movies and favorite songs. Bobb Bruno (the old one): "Smith Westerns: 'Tonight' and Those Darlins: 'Wild One' are probably my two favorites of the last year." [P4K]

* "What the Kings of Leon didn't realize was that this was a test. And the Kings of Leon failed." [America's Finest News Source]

* Were they so drunk they needed IVs? [Riverfront Times A to Z]
