Strotter Inst. at Open Lot Friday

If you're a Strotter Inst. fan, or if you've never heard of the guy but have ever wondered what avant-garde turntablism sounds like, or if you've never even thought about that until just now, this Friday night presents a rare opportunity. The Swiss manipulator of turntables, maker of "anachronistic machines" and noise-generating performance artist will be appearing at Open Lot tomorrow at 9:30 p.m.

Strotter himself describes his technique, in part, thusly: "the main source of sound are the prepared pick-ups (i.e. sewing needles or strings instead of the diamond or the extended use of rubber bands)." The show costs $5 and hey, if avant-skronk-bot post-industrial metal-scrape-core isn't your thing, at least the cover charge includes free booze! Check out some video after the jump to get an idea of what you're in for/up against.

Thanks to Theatre Intangible for the heads-up.
