Looking for a Drummer? Get Josh Freese for $75,000. Looking for a band? Smashing Pumpkins to Hold Auditions in L.A.

All of you Smashing Pumpkins fans out there who have been crying yourselves to sleep at night over the recent departure of drummer Jimmy Chamberlin can rest assured that the "band" will have a new skin-pounder soon. The Pumpkins, or shall we say Pumpkin, will be holding auditions this Friday, Apr. 10, in Los Angeles. (If you're interested in auditioning send your bio, photos and web-links to pumpkinsdrummer[at]gmail[dot]com.) With Chamberlin out of the band and James Iha playing in the ragtag ensemble Tinted Windows with Bun E. Carlos, Taylor Hanson and Fountains of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger, Corgan is now be the only original member of band, making it safe to say that he's the Axl Rose of grunge.

After Chamberlin first got the boot following a 1996 heroin overdose that resulted in the death of touring keyboardist John Melvoin, his position was offered to studio wiz Josh Freese, who turned down the gig when the band's management asked him to pay his own airfare to Chicago. For those of you who don't know, Freese is a pretty distinguished drummer who's toured as a member of Devo, The Vandals, A Perfect Circle and Nine Inch Nails among others. He's played on more than 250 records backing up everyone from Ween, The Replacements, Sting, Guns 'n' Roses and practically every faceless modern rock band in between. Now that Pumpkins drum auditions will be held in L.A., Corgan will have his second chance at getting Freese in the band. He could also just pay the drummer $75,000 for a month of his services, and so could you.

As you may have heard, in what is perhaps the most hilarious publicity stunt I've ever seen, Freese is offering his new solo record Since 1972 in a serious of packages that range in price from $7 to $75,000. $7 gets you a download of the album, while $75,000 gets you Freese's services for a month (either as a drummer or your personal assistant) along with day of doing mushrooms and cruising the Sunset Strip in a Lamborghini with him and Tool drummer Danny Carey. In between are packages that include floating with Josh in a sensory deprivation chamber, drunkenly cutting each others hair, and miniture golfing with Mark Mothersbaugh and Maynard James Keenan. According to Freese each of these packages are completely legit and available through his website. Take a look:

It's your 5 minutes to yack it up. Talk about whatever you want.
