Pools of Glass
When: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5
Where: The Frist
Local dance troupe Company Rose partners with the Frist Center and Vanderbilt’s Martha Rivers Ingram Commons to present Pools of Glass, an original contemporary dance performance inspired by the Frist’s exhibition Looking East: Western Artists and the Allure of Japan.
Led by native Nashvillian Marsha Barsky, director of the dance program at MTSU, Company Rose promises a voyage through space and time with this performance — specifically back to 1853, when American Commodore Matthew Perry (no, not the dude from Friends) led four ships to Tokyo Bay, establishing trade between Japan and the West. Gallery admission is required; members get in free and seating is first come, first served.
The above clip is from the performance Company Rose arranged around the Frist's Warhol Live exhibit.
